The town of Gavi is situated in Piedmont, Italy. Gavi wine is made exclusively from Cortese grapes, but has become the uniform name for the distinctive wines made in this area. Wines labelled Gavi di Gavi are made in the township of Gavi and nowhere else. The mineral-rich soils of the area are responsible for the bone-dry character and crisp, flinty & fresh acidity that Gavi wine is known for.
Gavi is an increasingly popular wine, named after the city of Gave where some of the finest vineyards are. There is lots of fresh, steely acidity here which makes for a great aperitif or pairing to fish. Vegetarian/Vegan.
